Flying Sparks and Heavy Machinery video

Flying Sparks and Heavy Machinery is a video (15:11 runtime) commissioned in 2003 by the Penderecki String Quartet to accompany their performance of American composer Annie Gosfield's "Flying Sparks and Heavy Machinery".

The work was made possible by the receipt of the Equinox Emerging Artist Video Award, from Ed Video Media Arts Centre, and the video was premiered at the Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound. The video was projected above the Penderecki String Quartet and four percussionists, at the King Street Theatre in Kitchener, Ontario.

Using found moving images from historical archives, along with video shot by Stefan, the imagery interweaves the threads of industry, construction, and technology in the 20th century.
